Interview with Will Boyce

Navigating Industry Trends and Growing Client Accounts with Taylex Group

01.01.2025

We recently sat down with Will Boyce, our Client Services Manager, to discuss his journey with Taylex Group, his experience over the past year, and his insights into the ever-evolving exhibition production landscape. With 16 years of event management expertise, Will has built a remarkable career and rapidly grown his client accounts in the last year. His experience spans from delivering conferences at the University of Warwick to collaborating with leading event service providers like Freeman & Human Built. Now, at Taylex Group, he is playing a key role in ensuring our clients receive unparalleled service from brief to exhibition delivery.

Will, you’ve been with Taylex Group for over a year now. How has your journey been so far?

It’s been a rewarding year, definitely. When I joined Taylex, I was drawn to the variety and scale of exhibitions and live events we handle. The team is great, and the company’s focus on delivering high-quality work and providing excellent client service aligns perfectly with my approach to event management. Over the past 12 months, I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic clients and overseeing projects that continue to challenge and inspire me.

Speaking of clients, you’ve had notable success with accounts like Top Banana, Wickes, Thrive Learning, Chorus Group, and Heaven Media. What’s been the key to growing these accounts?

It’s all about understanding the client’s needs and adapting to the way the industry is changing. Over the years, I’ve learned that exhibition production isn’t just about delivering what’s asked—it’s about anticipating what’s coming next and adjusting our approach accordingly. Each of these clients has different needs, so I’ve made it a priority to really listen and engage with them at every stage of the process, ensuring we meet their objectives while also staying ahead of the curve.

For example, when working with Top Banana, we focused on creating immersive brand experiences that truly reflect their values and message. For Wickes, it was about maintaining a balance between striking design and practical functionality that aligns with their retail and product-focused goals. These types of tailored approaches have helped us build long-lasting relationships.

In terms of adapting to industry changes, what trends have you noticed in the exhibition production contractor sector in the last year?

The last 12 months have been a period of rapid change, especially with the growing importance of sustainability and digital integration in events. Clients are increasingly looking for ways to make their exhibitions more sustainable—whether that’s through eco-friendly materials, efficient logistics, or designing reusable structures. At the same time, the push for digital experiences has intensified. More clients want hybrid events or exhibitions with digital elements that enhance the on-site experience. It’s a fine line to walk, making sure we incorporate these elements without compromising the overall visitor experience.

As a business, we’ve embraced these trends by integrating sustainable practices into our production process and offering innovative digital solutions. Whether it’s through virtual showcases or interactive features, we’re adapting quickly to meet client demands.

How do you approach working with both creative agencies and end clients?

It’s all about communication and understanding both sides. Creative agencies often come with a strong vision for how the exhibition should look and feel, but they may not always have the insight into the practicalities of building it. That’s where my experience comes in—working closely with them to ensure that the vision is executed efficiently while also aligning with the client’s goals.

When working with end clients, I focus on delivering clear, actionable solutions that meet their strategic needs. It’s a balancing act, but by maintaining open channels of communication and providing ongoing support, we’ve built strong partnerships with both agencies and end clients. It’s essential to be flexible and responsive while still maintaining the high-quality standards that Taylex Group is known for.

How does Taylex Group adapt to ensure unparalleled client service, from the brief through to exhibition delivery?

One of the biggest reasons our clients keep coming back is the personalized approach we take. We don’t just take the brief and execute—we get involved from the very beginning, offering guidance, suggestions, and problem-solving solutions along the way. Our team is highly collaborative, ensuring that everyone from design to production is on the same page. We also provide dedicated support during the exhibition, making sure everything runs smoothly and our clients are completely satisfied.

The goal is to create seamless experiences, whether it’s helping a client refine their concept, providing logistical support, or delivering a flawless on-site experience. At the end of the day, it’s about building trust and delivering results that exceed expectations.

What’s next for you and Taylex Group?

The next year is about continuing to grow and innovate. With the changes happening in the industry, there’s always room for us to stay ahead of the curve. We’re constantly looking for new ways to enhance the client experience, from adopting cutting-edge technologies to implementing even more sustainable practices. For me personally, it’s about continuing to foster relationships, taking on bigger and more complex projects, and contributing to the ongoing success of Taylex Group.

As Will’s journey with Taylex Group continues, it’s clear that his expertise and adaptable approach will remain key in ensuring our clients’ success. With a solid understanding of industry trends and a passion for delivering exceptional results, Will is an integral part of our team’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
